Misty had become something of a superstar since being rescued from the NYCACC in 2012. Misty was used as a bait dog and had various infected wounds all over her body. She was found abandoned on a Brooklyn street corner with little hope of survival. Upon Misty's rescue from NYACC by Second Chance Rescue, it was clear she would need funds to cover her extensive medical costs. The YAP students were happy to step up! The children raised over $900 in much needed funds to help save Misty's life. Shorty after the kids had a celebration and education event which was partnered by the then Manhattan Borough President and current Comptroller Scott Stringer, Second Chance Rescue, and Justin Silver from the CBS television show Dogs in the City - and of course Misty herself.
